SONY car image sensor technology analysis: high-resolution wide-angle, ultra strong HDR, and LED anti flicker

SONY features

  • High resolution that can obtain sufficient information even during wide-angle shooting

If the resolution of the image sensor is the same, the larger the framing range of the lens, the lower the unit area resolution (information content) of the captured image.
On the contrary, if the framing range of the lens is reduced, the resolution per unit area will increase, but the shooting range will become narrower.
In order to expand the shooting range without reducing the resolution per unit area, high-resolution image sensors are needed.
SSS's vehicle mounted image sensor product lineup also includes high-resolution models, which customers can choose according to their needs.

  • High sensitivity and HDR performance beyond the human eye

When driving on a dark night road illuminated only by starlight, the human eye can only detect objects within the range of the headlights. The high sensitivity SSS vehicle mounted image sensor can clearly recognize the surrounding situation even in such scenarios, contributing to the prevention and safety of automobiles.
In addition, in scenes exposed to the setting sun, etc., the captured images are prone to whitening or blackening due to strong exposure, and in scenes with large contrast between light and dark, it is recommended to modify it to "SSS car mounted image sensor with 120dB HDR performance, which can capture objects in bright or dark places.

  • Reduce the unique flicker of LED light sources and accurately identify signs

Signal lights, signs, and car taillights now use mainstream LED light sources. Sometimes, its structure may cause flickering during camera shooting due to certain shooting conditions, which can have a negative impact on Automated Driving/ADAS.
The onboard image sensor of SSS adopts LED anti flicker technology (LFM) to solve this problem, helping to improve the recognition of signal lights and signs in a large number of scenes.
